Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing how companies manage human resources (HRM), but its impact in the healthcare sector is still underexplored. A recent study analyzed how AI can improve HR functions in five Chinese hospitals, using data from 331 professionals. The results show that AI can optimize recruitment, personalize training, and better manage talent, explaining 75.2% of the variance in HR performance. This means that AI is not just a technological tool, but a strategic resource to address staff shortages and improve equity in workforce distribution. Imagine a future where AI helps find the right personnel at the right time, making hospitals more efficient and patients more satisfied!
The study uses resource-based theory to conceptualize AI capability as a multidimensional construct encompassing tangible resources, human resources, and organizational intangibles. The analysis was conducted using a structural equation modeling approach (PLS-SEM) on survey data. The results demonstrate a strong, positive, and statistically significant relationship between AI capability and HR functions, highlighting how AI can enhance HR performance through smarter recruitment processes, personalized training programs, and data-driven talent management. This study contributes to theoretical development and offers valuable practical insights for healthcare administrators and policymakers, positioning AI as a strategic resource to address healthcare sector challenges.
