ChatGPT in the classroom: an ally for ethical English learning?

Imagine having a virtual assistant that helps you improve your English, but knowing how to use it correctly? In Kuwait, a course called 'ChatGPT Essentials' is revolutionizing language learning. This program, designed for future English teachers, teaches how to use ChatGPT effectively and responsibly. Before the course, many students didn't know how to make the most of this tool. However, after the lessons, their perception changed: they now see it as a valuable ally to improve their language skills. The course not only teaches how to use ChatGPT but also how to do it ethically, fostering greater digital awareness. The 'ChatGPT Essentials' course was structured in several phases, starting with preliminary interviews to assess students' familiarity with ChatGPT. Quantitative analysis showed that students appreciated the course on four levels: reaction, learning, behaviors, and results. Post-training interviews and students' reflective journals revealed that the course enhanced their critical evaluation skills and ethical use of ChatGPT.
