The study used a qualitative approach, interviewing 22 special education teachers in the US. Participants were selected through purposive sampling to ensure a variety of experiences and contexts. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis, a method that allows identifying patterns and recurring themes in the data. The results highlighted three key aspects of relationships with families that influence teachers' well-being: trust, communication, and advocacy. Trust emerged as a fundamental element, as teachers feel more secure and supported when families believe in their work. Open and regular communication was another crucial factor, allowing teachers to feel understood and valued. Finally, advocacy, or the active support of families towards teachers, contributed to improving the perception of professional effectiveness and reducing stress. These results suggest that investing in building positive relationships with families can have a significant impact on teachers' well-being and, consequently, on the quality of education.
