Repairing defects in plywood is crucial for ensuring the final product's quality. A new method, based on a rack and pinion transmission system, promises to revolutionize the process. Scientists have created a geometric model that connects the structure of the mold, punch, and gear system. This model solves problems of non-standard meshing tooth movement, optimizing structural design. Thanks to multi-objective optimization and the NSGA-III algorithm, the best configurations were found to maximize efficiency. Tests showed that repair time ranges from 0.6 to 1.8 seconds, with a 14% improvement by reducing the mold height by 28 mm. System stability was confirmed through vibration measurements, with the main oscillations during meshing and disengagement. This innovative method could change how we repair plywood, making the process faster and more precise.

The proposed method uses a rack and pinion transmission system to repair plywood defects. The geometric model establishes a relationship between the dimensions of the punch, mold, and gear system. Multi-objective optimization aims to maximize repair efficiency while reducing the time required. The NSGA-III algorithm was used to find the optimal configurations, which were then tested through simulations and experiments. The results showed that reducing the mold height by 28 mm reduces the repair time by approximately 0.1 seconds, improving efficiency by 14%. Vibration measurements confirmed the system's stability during meshing and disengagement phases.
