Have you ever searched for an online course only to find things that have nothing to do with your interests? Often, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) struggle to understand what you truly like, especially if you haven't taken many courses yet. To solve this problem, researchers have developed a new method based on artificial intelligence.

The secret lies in how the AI 'eads' the courses. Instead of just looking at which courses you have clicked on in the past, this new system deeply analyzes the text. It uses advanced tools like BERT to understand not just the words in the titles, but also the deep meaning within the course descriptions. It is as if the AI moved from just reading a book title to reading the entire back cover to truly understand its content.

This information is then combined with your past behaviors. The system creates a perfect mix of what you have done and what the course actually is about. The result? Much more accurate and personalized recommendations. Thanks to this approach, the AI can predict your next favorite course with much higher accuracy, making online learning a tailor-made journey for every student.

The technological core of this research lies in the integration of different Deep Learning architectures to overcome the 'data sparsity' problem. When a user is new, the system has few behavioral data points to rely on. To address this, researchers used FastText to extract shallow features from titles and the BERT model (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) to capture complex semantic relationships in descriptions.

The real innovation lies in how these textual features are fused with course embeddings (mathematical representations of the courses themselves). By using a linear projection layer, the semantic features are mapped into the same vector space as the course IDs. This allows the text meaning to be combined with the course identity through an additive fusion strategy.

Finally, everything is processed by an enhanced SASRec (Self-Attention Based Sequential Recommendation) model. This model utilizes a 'ulti-head self-attention' mechanism, which allows the AI to understand the evolution of a user's interests over time, giving more weight to recent interests while maintaining historical context. Tests on the MOOCCubeX dataset demonstrated that this method outperforms traditional models, significantly improving metrics such as NDCG@10 (Normalized Discounted Cumulative Gain), which measures the quality of the recommendation ranking.
