Imagine if farms could work like super-smart smartphones. Today, agriculture is one of the main causes of pollution due to the excessive use of fertilizers and machinery that release greenhouse gases into the air. But there is a technological solution on the horizon!

A new system proposes combining the Internet of Things (IoT) β€” sensors scattered across fields β€” with artificial intelligence and financial technology (FinTech). Often, AI is like a 'black box': it gives us a result, but we don't know how it got there. This new model, however, is transparent and explains exactly which farming practices to reduce to pollute less.

The system doesn't just observe; it suggests concrete actions. Using advanced mathematical algorithms, it can analyze emission data and optimize costs. In practice, it helps farmers understand how to produce food sustainably, reducing expenses related to carbon taxes by up to 43%. It is a way to transform agriculture into an activity that not only feeds the world but also protects the climate, making sustainability a profitable investment for everyone.

The described framework is based on a two-stage approach to overcome the opacity of traditional Machine Learning models. In the first phase, cluster analysis is used to identify distinct agricultural emission profiles from macro-level data. Subsequently, a cluster-oriented Principal Component Regression (PCR) model is implemented. This method reduces data dimensionality, removing noise and retaining only the variables that most significantly influence greenhouse gas emissions, achieving performance 35% higher than simple linear models.

The most innovative aspect is the integration with FinTech principles. The system is not merely predictive but becomes prescriptive through the SLSQP (Sequential Least Squares Quadratic Programming) algorithm. This mathematical optimization tool allows for the minimization of a cost function that includes carbon pricing. Essentially, the model calculates the optimal equilibrium point between agricultural productivity and the economic cost of pollutant emissions. This alignment with carbon credit market mechanisms transforms the reduction of environmental impact into a tangible financial advantage, making the adoption of green practices economically rational for the farm.
