Museums are undergoing a digital revolution! During the pandemic, many museums in Brașov County started using technology to stay close to the public. But how does this transformation really work? A study examined the digital strategies adopted, interviewing museum representatives and gathering visitor opinions. The results? The adoption of technology was rapid but not uniform: it depends on available resources and internal skills. Younger and more educated people are more open to virtual activities. However, there are still challenges to face, such as a lack of specialized personnel and limited budgets. The good news? Museums that offer high-quality digital content receive more positive feedback. The challenge now is to find a balance between physical and virtual experiences, without losing the charm of tradition.
The research used a mixed-methods approach, combining content analysis, semi-structured interviews with museum representatives, and a questionnaire administered to the public. This method provided a comprehensive view of the digital strategies adopted and visitors' perceptions. One of the most interesting results is the positive correlation between frequent online interaction and the perceived quality of digital content. This suggests that museums investing in high-quality content can significantly enhance the visitor experience. However, the lack of specialized personnel and limited budgets remain significant obstacles. The research emphasizes the need for institutional reforms and investments in digitalization to ensure the sustainability of the digital transition, while maintaining the value of the physical museum experience.
